Local business are decorated, jumbotrons are running, and “Tow Mater” and the other bale creations are up.  It’s time for the Townsend Rotary Club Fall Fest!  Friday, in Heritage Fun Park, local Rotarians, spouses, friends, volunteers, and vendors will be setting up a stage, canopies, and tents to entertain the public and sell their wares.  The Rotary Club has been a major provider of entertainment in Broadwater County since 1939.

Fall Fest is one of the last free music festivals in Montana.  Entertainment starts late Friday afternoon and continues until late Sunday afternoon.  See the event schedule in the Fall Fest ad.  All entertainment is provided by many generous sponsors.  Please thank these sponsors-this event would not happen without them!

What does Rotary get for organizing Fall Fest?  This is the Rotary Club’s main fundraiser for the year.  Rotary sells brats, beer, and other refreshments to raise funds for its many local community service projects.  This year the Rotary Club will also be selling soft pretzels and miscellaneous souvenir merchandise.  This year tip money will go to setting up a pavilion over the concrete slab at the Broadwater County Fairgrounds.  Please tip generously.

Over 80 vendors will be peddling their wares including food and merchandise. Many people do their Holiday shopping at the Fall Fest.  Non-profit organizations will also be trying to get your attention.

Rotary’s creation of “Tow Mater” set the high standard of quality for the bale decorating contest.  The bale decorating contest was modified this year to allow anyone to enter and to put the bales anywhere they wanted too in Broadwater County.  The only requirement was that the title of the creation had to have the word “bale, “hay”, or “straw” in it.  Please tour the bale creations at Broadwater Ford, Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic, the Broadwater High School football field, Broadwater Health Center, the entrance to Silver Springs Assisted Living on Carroll Drive, on Highway 287 South across the street from Carroll Drive, and on Highway 287 South at Mile Post 93.  These contestants will be vying for $1,000 in prizes.

And don’t forget the Car Show on Sunday on Broadway.  This year’s theme is “Movie Cars”.  Look for models from various movies over the years.  “Tow Mater” and “Herbie” made the bale decorating contest!  Rumor has it that “Tow Mater” may also show up for the Car Show!

Rotarians cannot pull this event off without the help and understanding of the community.  A special emphasis was placed this year on getting the many sponsors to send their employees to help sell food, beer, to help set up, and/ or to help clean up.  Please look for these volunteer employees wearing their company apparel and thank them for their sponsorship and for helping make Fall Fest 2017 a great event.

Rotarians have promised attendees excellent Fall weather with no forest fire smoke, no 90 degree temperatures, and no hailstorms!  After Fall Fest –Let it Snow!
